I'm developing this site for the descendants of Thomas Dewey. He was my 10th great grandfather.
My intent is to compile and present all information known about the life of Thomas.
I was first inspired to learn about the Dewey family by my great uncle, the late Donald Dewey, an Economics Professor at Columbia University.
Through the years I've compiled as much information as possible, and built my section of the Dewey family tree on Ancestry.com.
Recently, I visited England with my wife and children. We made a pilgrimage to what I believe are the sites of Thomas's origins--the tiny Dorset village of Hinton Martell, and the port town of Swanage (known in his times as "Sandwich").
On that trip, we met and had dinner with Terry Dewey, and his wife, Julia. Terry had the great insight into Thomas's likely origins, and spent many hours of research, over a period of years, to finally bring to light the details of Thomas's life before he journeyed to the new world.
